Cargo Security - Mike Wolfe and Lorraine Henderson

Cargo Security - is this the Calm Before the Storm?

by Mike Wolfe and Lorraine Henderson

This session combines a look at the situation today and forecasts of what lies ahead.

Lorraine Henderson, the Customs Director for the Port of Boston, will offer her insights on the situation today. For example, she will address the impact, especially here in Boston, of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, the Container Security Initiative, and the 24 Hour Advanced Manifest Rule. She will share practical suggestions and 'war stories' about what works and what does not work in assuring reliable Customs clearance in Boston.

Mike Wolfe, an expert on the relationships between supply chain security, productivity, and technology, will address the dynamics of supply chain
security. He will share research results and forecasts in several areas: How bad is cargo theft? How stable is today's cargo security regulatory regime? How will market economics and government regulation combine to drive the development of smart containers?
