Each
year, the amount of data grows by as much as 40 – 60% for many organizations.
Emerging technologies such as the EPCglobal Network and RFID technology, along
with sensor networks are certain to generate even more data. This raises
the question, “How are we going to make sense of large volumes of data
generated from RFID and other technologies?”
This presentation examines a new language for computers that will enable data
and model interoperability and help firms to get greater insight from data.
The M Language is currently being prototyped at MIT in conjunction with
Industry. It uses an open system approach. Examples will include
situations in operations and supply chain management experienced by members of
The MIT Data Center. The M Language will serve as the base infrastructure
for the Intelligent networks of the future that will dominate supply chains.
