On-Line Reverse Auctions Lessons Learned: Three Years and $150+ Million Later

Since August, 2004, Pfizer has been an industry leader in the use of online reverse auctions in the Clinical Development and Medical spaces. Activities addressed include clinical monitoring, data management, statistical analysis and reporting, clinical lab services, regulatory document handling, data entry, study management support, adverse events, ECGs, outcomes research, medical writing, and medical inquiries, among others. From this experience many lessons learned have been captured. Most important among these are when to use, and how to best structure for success.
